Welcome to the Crewkerne and District branch of the U3A. Our members come from the Somerset town of Crewkerne and the
The U3A is a popular and ever expanding self-help organisation for people no longer in full-time employment – indeed this is the only criterion for membership! Each local U3A group is a charity in its own right and is run entirely by its members providing educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly and informal environment. “University” for us means a place where we learn together and from each other. There is no entry requirement and it does not require high academic achievement or include exams. We are here to enjoy ourselves as we learn, laugh and live together.
Formed in 1997 we currently have 350 members and offer around 45 interest groups covering subjects
as diverse as Ancient History to Wine Appreciation, and many other subjects in between.
Any group activities which you may like to join will generally be held at venues in Crewkerne and surrounding villages,
or in members' homes. Meetings might be weekly or monthly, or as members decide.
Our Monthly meeting is usually held on the first Monday of the month at 2pm in The George Reynolds Centre.
Our guest speakers are often amusing or inspirational, speaking on a wide variety of subjects .This is followed by refreshments and offers a good opportunity
to socialise and catch up with current and future events.
Should you find that we do not have an interest group to suit you then you would be most welcome to share your interests
and skills with us. If you are into home-brewing, sea fishing, furniture restoration, and website design - just by way of example - we may already have
members who would love to learn from you.
Our annual membership fee is £15 a year for individual members or £28 joint membership, payable on April 1st,
but we have reduced membership if you join part way through the year.
We also offer associate membership if you are a member of another U3A.
If you would like to join, you may do so via our Links page, where you can download a membership and gift aid form,
or via the Contacts page email the membership secretary Anne Bright.
